The qamis is a men’s outfit adopted by many countries. The qamis typically differs according to the countries, the cultures, and the traditions. It’s currently found in 3 main cuts: the standard Qamis Cut, the Pakistani Cut, and the Tunic Cut. Below, discover what distinguishes each of them.
The Qamis Cut
The Qamis Cut is the best known of all and is the one worn by the majority of the inhabitants of the Middle East countries, especially the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Jordan Yemen, as well as the Maghreb countries, namely Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia, or some African countries such as Egypt, Libya, Mauritania, etc.
In general, it’s characterized by a long and wide cut down to the bottom of the leg with long or short sleeves. However, this type of qamis may differ in style, colors, patterns and accessories depending on the region in which it’s worn.
The Pakistani and Tunic Cut
The Pakistani Cut consists of a cut reaching below the knees with slits on both ends. This model of qamis generally comes from Asia, especially Pakistan, and Africa. It’s typically worn with pants. For example, in Pakistan, it is accompanied by a stocking such as a churidar or shalwar.
The Tunic Cut, meanwhile, has the same characteristics as the Pakistani cut except that it goes down to the mid-thigh. This type of qamis also comes from Asia and is worn with pants.
All these types of cuts can be personalized and accompanied by various accessories. It’s also possible to adjust their length as you wish.
