Traditional dress of Pakistan

The kurta, this timeless clothing

The kurta is a shirt that gets its name from Urdu and means " pass without shirt " . Some of them are made with mao collar. Straight sleeves, full, the kurta is very popular in Pakistan. It is worn by both men and women, and agrees in general with pants. It can be worn short ( mid-thigh ) or long ( knee just before the knees or longer than the knees ). Colored, it's traditionnaly worn with a white shalwar or even with jeans. Slightly embroidered for everyday wear, the kurta will be expanded, including beaded, for special occasions .

The kurta pajama
Pajama means " low " or " pants " in Urdu. The kurta pajama set is a straight cut. The pajama inspired western pants, shalwar that unlike him, is wide. The kurta that accompanies these pants is longer than the simple kurta and usually happens to the knees; but never ankles. The kurta pajama is also a popular traditional dress.

The churidar kurta
Although fworn by the North Indians, the churidar kurta is worn by all Pakistanis. The pants, in other words, the churidar, is longer than the kurta pajama. It especially has the distinction of having folds which are piled at the end, as if this part was crumpled, wrinkled. Besides this kurta churiyans derives its name; the famous bracelets worn by women in large numbers. We find the churidar kurtas in cotton, white and colorful. The kurta is accompagned by attaches to the waist with a cord called " nala ". A cotton belt that has almost disappeared, giving way to a more practical elastic, more convenient.

The shalwar kameez
The shalwar kameez or the salwar Kameez , is the traditional Pakistani dress the most popular in the country. It is a set composed of two pieces :

The kameez
The kameez is a tunic that comes along to the knees, neck and shirt sleeves. It is decorated with buttons down the front and at the wrists. There are also two discreet pockets on the sides and one on the left side of the torso. It is decorated with simple embroidery and loaded for weddings or occasions.

The shalwar
The shalwar or salwar is a loose fit pants at the top and tight at the ankles. It has many folds at the waist which are hidden by the kameez. The shalwar may be as well worn off as tight. In the upper part of the trousers is located a Nala ( cotton cord ) or a rubber band, to bend and hold the pants.

About the Pakistani qamis
The Pakistani qamis is increasingly in vogue and one would think that it is a traditional garment apart. Now, it is no other than the qamis qameez shalwar kurta or the churidar or pajama. It is as if we had kept the ups without downs.

The traditional Pakistani clothing is rich in colors and fabrics. It continues to evolve with the times. But still keeps the same section ; long and wide.
